Manager of Internal Controls - Finance

Title:  Manager of Internal Controls Reports to: Controller Status: Exempt 
 
Objective:   This is a pivotal position for a dynamic, experienced and motivated individual who, reporting to the Controller, will lead initiatives as they relate to documentation and implementation of an internal control and risk management framework.  Collaborating internally with members of the finance team, internal clients, and external consultants, this person will be responsible for understanding business processes and validating or establishing the appropriate controls within them. 
 
Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or relevant field, or equivalent work experience

• At least 5 years of progressive experience in internal controls, audit or risk management 

• Experience managing complex internal projects

• A strong understanding of business processes and requirements

• Ability to create and complete project deliverables and documentation

 • Strong written and verbal communication skills 

• Ability to work independently with minimal guidance to meet corporate and team objectives 
 
Responsibilities: 

• Facilitate the documentation, review and implementation of policies and standards with business partners to ensure internal control compliance on an ongoing basis. 

• Support the execution of management’s internal control assessment and scoping activities to ensure proper risk identification, process mapping and controls linkage for a sustainable internal control framework.

• Lead the development and implementation of goals, policies, priorities and procedures relating to internal controls over financial reporting.

• Prepare and present updates to management, including management control remediation plans.

• Partner and liaise with external auditors.

• Develop processes and policies for reporting findings.

• Collaborate with business process owners in development of action plans as well as the development and implementation of a system to capture and track control deficiencies, as well as internal and external audit findings to resolution.
