I. MAJOR FUNCTIONS:
Under the strategic direction of the Chapter Executive Director, the Membership and Inclusion Coordinator is responsible for coordinating NASW-MA membership recruitment and retention initiatives. This position is also responsible for coordinating and monitoring the racial justice component of the NASW-MA strategic plan and providing staff support to the Racial Justice Council.
This person reports to the Executive Director.


II. BASIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Develop and execute membership recruitment and retention initiatives in collaboration with regional staff and other chapter staff. This includes:
     a. Conducting outreach to members via email, direct mail, and other mediums.
     b. Coordinating welcome calls and emails to new members and sending assignments to regional staff.
     c. Creating membership reports and conducting data analysis on successful membership initiatives.
     d. Participating in monthly national membership calls and implementing learned best practices in Massachusetts.
     e. Developing other membership recruitment and retention activities based on best practices in the field.
2. Coordinate student and newer professional membership recruitment and retention activities, including the Student Ambassador program, schools of social work student orientation, other networking/visibility events .
3. Become familiar with NASW-MA 2018-2020 Strategic Plan and devise a clear work plan to implement membership and racial justice goals, including providing staff support for the Racial Justice Council and its initiatives.

5. Submit periodic articles for Social Work Voice magazine and monthly e-newsletter to promote membership and racial justice work.
6. Seek grant opportunities to support racial justice programming and lead grant submissions and management for this work.


III. MINIMUM WORK REQUIREMENTS:

9. Proven ability to empower volunteers and mobilize individuals.
10. Superb organizational skills with ability to balance several projects simultaneously.
11. Valid driver’s license for occasional statewide travel.


Knowledge:
1. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work or a related field preferred, but not
required.
2. LCSW or LICSW preferred, but not required.
3. NASW membership preferred, but not required.
4. Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook.
5. Knowledge of successful membership association recruitment and retention initiatives.
6. Knowledge of grant writing and management a plus.


Experience:
1. Minimum of 3-5 years of related work experience, preferably at a professional
association and/or nonprofit setting with multiple state chapters.
2. Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in community organizing, membership
development, and/or coordination of equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives.
3. Sales, marketing, and budgeting.
